Prostate Health
What is Proton Therapy?

An effective cancer treatment alternative with less risk, and higher quality of life during treatment.

Proton therapy for cancer is an advanced form of radiation that uses protons, rather than x-rays. Protons can be precisely controlled, allowing our physicians to closely target your tumor and deliver powerful doses of radiation with:

  1. Less damage to healthy tissue

  2. Fewer side effects

  3. Low risk of secondary cancers

  4. Better quality of life during and after treatment

Proton therapy, also called proton beam therapy or proton radiation, delivers a very precise dose of radiation to your tumor, destroying cancer cells with little damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Some of the cancers treated at the University of Florida Health Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, Florida and possibly some of the other treatment centers throughout the United States are: Bone, Brain, Breast, Earcoma, Edeye, Gastrointestinal, Head & Neck, Lung, Lymphoma, Pancreatic, Pediatric, Prostate.

***they possibly treat some other cancers not listed on their web site for Florida or other treatment facilities (you have to ask do they treat this cancer or not).
